GemLife Highfields residents who like to keep fit by using pedal power to cycle along local streets and trails in the surrounding area and throughout Toowoomba are spoilt for choice.
Immediately at their disposal is the new Highfields Bikeway. Stage one of the cycling transport route, which runs along New England Highway between Mitchell Road and Toowoomba Christian College, was completed in 2020.
Plans for stage two have been completed and when funding is released, will provide a connection between Toowoomba Christian College and Hi-Winds Road. Plans for the third stage are expected to be completed by mid-2023.
Mountain View Park in Vale View Crescent at Highfields, which is just a block away from GemLife Highfields resort, is an ideal place to ride for those who enjoy beautiful views.
Currently, leisure routes around Toowoomba include the 4km Uni Loop which is a mainly flat circuit; the 14km East and West Creek loop; the 4km Prince Henry Drive loop which features amazing views; the purpose-built Peter Watt’s Criterium Track, and the iconic Toowoomba Velodrome.
The criterium track offers a versatile and flexible layout with distances ranging from 350 metres to 1.76 kilometres.
