Cancer takes centre stage

Lisa and dance partner pose onstage

THE STARS OF HASTINGS DANCE FOR CANCER EVENT ON FRIDAY, 18 JUNE WAS A DAZZLING SUCCESS AS LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS AND CONTESTANTS TOOK TO THE STAGE AT THE GLASSHOUSE IN PORT MACQUARIE TO DANCE AND RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER.

Ten weeks of dance rehearsal came to fruition for Lisa Dixon and her dance partner that night.
“It was a big production, and we had a full house. It was absolutely amazing!” said Lisa.
With a bronze sponsorship from GemLife and a silver sponsorship from her company Elders Real Estate, Lisa and her fellow contestants lit up the dance floor and raised a total of $288,000, surpassing their initial target of $120,000.
“What a fantastic night! We didn’t win but we had a solid score from all three judges (9,9,9.5). I enjoyed the rehearsals and I will miss my dance partner – we became really good friends.”
Lisa’s husband and GemLife Rainbow Beach Sales Manager, Craig, was there to support and cheer her on.
STARS is a community-driven dance gala event organised by Cancer Council Australia.
