SUE BRAZ SUMMED UP HER EXPERIENCE AT GEMLIFE BRIBIE ISLAND OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS BY SAYING: “THE RESORT HAS EXCEEDED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS”.
“There was very little here when we moved into the resort in March 2018. It was more like a construction site with homes being built all around us,” recalls Sue.
“However, five years on and everything GemLife CEO Adrian Puljich promised us has been fulfilled and we now have 400 homes, an amazing Country Club with top facilities and are surrounded by a full complement of very diverse and interesting people.”
Sue said the resort changed her life for the better.
“My husband and I retired in 2006 to an acreage property with a five-bedroom home but eventually realised it was time to downsize. We looked around and eventually found GemLife Bribie Island. There were no entry fees or exit fees, and the resort offered high-quality homes and great facilities as well as a caring and supportive community which was so important when I lost my husband a few years ago,” said Sue.
The only reservation the couple first had was the closeness of homes but that was short-lived.
“Once we moved in, living close to our neighbours proved not to be a problem at all. We couldn’t hear anything, especially once we were inside the home,” said Sue, who also loves the fact that residents pop in from time to time to ask if she is OK.
“I am nearly 82 but very independent and being on my own has never been an issue for me, but it is nice to know someone cares.”
Sue has also made many friends since being at the resort.
“I am involved in lots of things and also go on holidays and attend functions with three other widows in my street,” said Sue who is a keen golfer. She cites using the golf simulator in the Country Club as one of her favourite activities along with the swimming pool, yoga, water aerobics, visiting the library and attending on-site functions.
Sue says her grandchildren love visiting her at the resort because there is so much to do.
“The five years have gone so quickly, and I must admit it has been a fabulous journey. I just love it here!”
