GemLife musicians invited to join new band

A BAND, MADE UP OF GEMLIFE RESIDENT MUSICIANS, IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING FORMED, AND ORGANISER RAI DE JONG IS LOOKING FOR INSTRUMENTALISTS WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN.

“We started the search about a month ago and so far, have a lead guitarist, drummer, bass guitarists and me as vocalist. We might also have a rhythm guitarist who also plays the harmonica and sings, so we are on our way,” said Rai.

She is also keen to welcome a saxophonist, trumpet and/or clarinet player as well as any other musicians who are interested in getting together for the occasional gig at a GemLife function.

“The bigger the band, the better,” said the former professional performer who has been singing in bands since she was sixteen.

Rai would like the band to be able to cover a wide repertoire including jazz, blues, rock’n’roll and a bit of country.

Current band members, who include Graham Bartlett (lead guitarist), Joni Bartlett (keyboard), Brian Hunter (bass), Ian Buscombe (drummer) and Steve Ball (rhythm guitarist/harmonica and male vocalist), are meeting every Tuesday at 1.30pm in the GemLife Maroochy Quays Country Club to rehearse with a view to hopefully being able to perform together by Christmas for the enjoyment of residents at GemLife resorts.

Any resident musicians who would like to take part are encouraged to call Rai on 0420 902 710 or email [email protected]
