Love at first sight – In on the ground level at Gemlife Palmwoods

love-at-first-sight

“WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT” AND “WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE … IT’S WONDERFUL” WERE HOW TWO COUPLES DESCRIBED THEIR RECENT MOVE INTO GEMLIFE PALMWOODS OVER-50S LIFESTYLE RESORT, SET AMID THE BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE COAST HINTERLAND.

The thought of downsizing can be daunting and Tim and Cathy Dwyer, along with Nigel and Patsy Cundy, were no exception to that way of thinking, but they say that the decision to sell-up and move into a brand-new quality-built home within the GemLife Palmwoods community turned out to be the best they had ever made.

Having moved in between June and September and being among the first to take up residency, all agreed there were some major drawcards, ranging from the quality of homes and extensive recreational facilities to the welcome mat being extended to pets, no matter the size.

We spoke to each couple about their experiences since arriving at the new resort, which is still in the early stages of development, as well as highlights related to lifestyle and facilities including the recently opened Summer House. We also asked them what they are looking forward to most, especially in view of the future $12.5m country club, currently under construction, which will add 4800sqm over three-levels of impressive facilities for relaxation, socialising, fitness and fun.

This community is the best

Former deputy school principal, Cathy Dwyer and husband Tim, who worked in the transport industry, were among the first five couples to sign up for their `forever’ home in the well-appointed resort. The Dwyers could not speak highly enough about the lifestyle, community and quality residences that greeted them when they first moved to GemLife Palmwoods.

“This community is the best! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and, despite being in the early stages of development, many of us are getting together regularly and enjoying everything from trivia nights and street parties to dining out at some of Palmwoods fabulous restaurants,” said Cathy.

The couple are keen walkers and regularly step out along local walking tracks and into the town of Palmwoods. They also enjoy socialising and can’t wait for the new multi-level country club to be completed. Tim has also been elected Secretary of the Home Owners Committee.

Pet friendly is icing on the cake

The ability to bring along their beloved pet Labrador, Gloria, was what led Nigel and Patsy Cundy into their beautiful new home at GemLife Palmwoods.

“It was like the icing on the cake for us. We had looked at other places, but no-one would allow us to have Gloria. Here at GemLife we were all welcomed with open arms plus were able to buy a beautiful, top-quality home in one of the most environmentally friendly areas of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. We absolutely love it,” said Patsy.

The Cundys, who still work, have three children and three grandchildren and also received the thumbs up from their sons who are all tradies and know a quality build when they see it.

Another big drawcard for avid travellers Nigel and Patsy, is the opportunity to hire an Explore by GemLife motorhome.

“My children have all married people from different countries so until now we have done a lot of overseas travel. However, we are now keen to see more of Australia. GemLife Palmwoods is wonderful. We count our blessings every day.”

Both couples are looking forward to celebrating Christmas for the first time in their new GemLife Palmwoods homes with friends and family.
