Moreton Bay resort earns full EnviroDevelopment certification

GEMLIFE MORETON BAY HAS RECEIVED FULL CERTIFICATION UNDER THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE OF AUSTRALIA’S (UDIA) ENVIRODEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, EARNING SIX OUT OF SIX ‘LEAVES’ FOR SUSTAINABILITY EXCELLENCE.

EnviroDevelopment is a national rating tool created by the UDIA to provide independent verification of a project’s sustainability performance.

GemLife Director and CEO Adrian Puljich said the Board at UDIA EnviroDevelopment was extremely impressed with the project, noting both the number of sustainable features as well as the significant allocation of land for rehabilitation purposes.

“The certification assessed GemLife Moreton Bay across six areas – ecosystems, waste, energy, materials, water, and community. We are extremely proud to have met all six of these,” Adrian said.

“Sustainability is at the heart of this community, with the site’s extraordinary natural geography lending itself to a range of innovative sustainability practices.

“From on-site renewable energy solutions and storage that help minimise homeowners’ power costs to protected koala habitat corridors and community gardens, the GemLife Moreton Bay development is a shining example of smart sustainable design,” he said.

To date, according to the UDIA, GemLife Moreton Bay is the largest retirement living development nationally to be certified under the EnviroDevelopment program.
