THIS MIGHT BE THE FIRST TIME IAIN AND ROS MACRAE HAVE COMPETED IN RUN THE ROCK, BUT THE HANGING ROCK COURSE IS PART OF THEIR OLD STOMPING GROUND.

“I was president of Little Athletics in the Diamond Valley Shire when our sons were small and we came up to Hanging Rock so they could compete in the cross country running when they were about 10 and 12-years-old,” said Iain.

“We moved to GemLife Woodend from Eltham three months ago, so this will be the first time we’ve competed in Run The Rock and we’re really looking forward to it.”

The couple couldn’t be happier about their move to Woodend and can’t wait to take part in the fun run alongside other GemLife homeowners.

“We’re really enjoying life here at Woodend,” said Iain. “It’s the fresh air – it’s not just clean but cool too. And it’s not until you live here that you realise how much of a difference the Mount Macedon ranges makes to the local weather conditions. It’s fascinating to watch it change.”

And seeing the change in seasons is something the Macraes’ are looking forward to in their country location.

“We spent a couple of years living in Germany about ten years ago and the autumns there are spectacular, and here we’re already seeing the leaves on the deciduous trees begin to turn yellow, gold and red.”

The couple regularly walk between four and six kilometres several days a week and three weeks ago they joined the local Park Run for their timed events, as part of training for the upcoming event.

“We do the five-kilometre at walking pace,” said Iain. “In fact, you could say doing Run The Rock after that will be a walk in the park!”

GemLife is proud to sponsor Run The Rock which takes place at Hanging Rock on Saturday, 20 April. Homeowners and contract holders are invited to join the GemLife team. To register, click here.
