The word is out!

GEMLIFE PALMWOODS RESIDENTS ARE GETTING TOGETHER WITH A HELPING HAND FROM THE NEWLY-FORMED HOME OWNERS ASSOCIATION.

With more than 50 homes already occupied at GemLife Palmwoods, the Home Owners Association has been busy helping create fun activities for the growing community.

Helping to spread the word is the resort’s own in-house newsletter, Palmwords, written and published by resident Cathy Dwyers. Palmwordsis emailed to residents every few weeks and is full of newsworthy information including details about group activities homeowners can join.

Cathy decided to start the newsletter to inform residents about what’s new from the association.

“We are finally getting off the ground with some social groups already formed for general activities such as gardening, and residents are encouraged to join,” Cathy said.

“A walking group meets every Tuesday and Thursday at the front gate at 7am. The Battle of GemLife team participates in trivia every Wednesday at 6:30pm at the Palmwoods Hotel, and every Sunday at 4pm, someone puts on a block party, so we encourage people to check our Facebook page for a weekly update.”

Cathy’s husband and the association’s secretary, Tim Dwyers, told us how the association came about.

“We started off with a group of interested people, and we visited other resorts to get an idea of what we needed to put together for us,” Tim said.

“We have already become incorporated, which means we’ve lodged our constitution for approval from the Office of Fair Trading. We’ve opened bank accounts, started a bottle recycling program, interact with management, and are having really good results.”

“In the future, when we have appropriate facilities, there will be other groups such as bowls, craft, library, and anything the residents want to form, so sign up,” said Tim.
