GEMLIFE RAINBOW BEACH HOMEOWNERS ANN TREMBLAY AND RICK MCGANN ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SO MUCH AS THEY REFLECT ON 2023.

As one of the first homeowners to move into the beautiful GemLife Rainbow Beach over-50s lifestyle resort, the couple has seen a lot of changes in the seven months since they’ve called the resort home.

“Lots of good changes,” confirms Ann. “We’ve welcomed many new neighbours and the gardens have grown so much in seven months. Our plants have doubled in size!”

“And then to see the work on the facilities has been amazing. We’re looking forward to the opening of our Country Club.”

Located at Lake Cathie, the resort puts the outdoor-loving pair close to the beach as well as the breathtaking natural surroundings that makes this part of the NSW Mid North Coast such a popular place for those seeking a seachange lifestyle.

Rick is an avid surfer and is delighted by the fact that he and his Malibu surfboard are only two minutes away from the beach, although he says he’s not been out on his board as much as he would like this year.

“I’ve been looking after my health this year; had a couple of skin cancers cut out, so I’ve been spending time around our new home, doing a few things to make it beautiful,” he said.

“And do you know? I’ve also gone back to work. I work as a school bus driver three days a week. It’s ten hours a week so it’s perfect for me. I’m really enjoying it and the kids are just terrific. And I work the hours I want to. It suits me down to the ground.”

Ann, a former personal trainer, is counting down the days to the opening of the GemLife Rainbow Beach Country Club. Ann exercises five days a week and varies her routine between weight training, Pilates, yoga, walking, swimming, cycling and a little bit of boxing. So, it’s no surprise that checking out the brand-new gym is high on her list.

“I’m looking forward to catching up with (GemLife Health and Lifestyle Coordinator) Josh Kristenson,” she said. “I met him the last time he was at our resort. I can’t wait to have a longer chat about some specific fitness advice and to get oriented with the gym.”

Looking ahead to Christmas, Ann and Rick are hoping to make friends with other GemLife homeowners who, like them, may be ‘Christmas orphans’.

“It’s just Rick and I, so we’re happy to spend Christmas with other people who may not have family nearby,” she said. “That is something we’re really looking forward to.”

And as for 2024, in addition to making the most of the GemLife Rainbow Beach facilities, Ann and Rick have their eyes on some travel.

“We have a nine-day trip to Bali planned for May,” said Ann. “Then in September, we have a month-long holiday to Anchorage and the Canadian Rockies.

“It’s great that we can lock up and leave and not have to worry about anything at home while we travel.”
