Spoilt for choice - Fun for all the family a top drawcard at GemLife resorts

A LIFESTYLE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY SEVERAL GENERATIONS HAS MADE GEMLIFE MAROOCHY QUAYS THE PERFECT PLACE TO LIVE FOR DEBRA AND KEITH WHEELDON, WHOSE CHILDREN AND GRANDSON ARE REGULAR VISITORS.

“When you have something as magnificent as our beautiful Country Club and all its amazing facilities, it makes families want to come and visit. It’s a resort-style location that just happens to be our home as well, and we love living here,” said the couple.

Having so many facilities at their doorstep within the popular over-50s lifestyle resort has not only enabled the Wheeldons to keep active and in good health but has also encouraged their family to visit regularly.

“We often look after our two-year-old grandson, Max, and have no trouble at all finding things to interest and keep him on the go throughout the day,” said Debra.

Swimming in the magnesium pool at the Summer House is one the family’s favourite activities.

“Max also loves to kick a ball around the lawn area and, even at such a young age, he is a bit of a charmer and enjoys chatting with the pickleball players when he sees them playing on the courts. Now that’s a game I want to get into as soon as I have more time,” said Debra.

Debra and Keith, who work part-time and have lived at GemLife Maroochy Quays for over two years, believe it would be hard to beat the facilities on offer at the resort and say they are keen to experience the full gamut of activities themselves.

“When we first moved in, we thought it would be difficult to have family days and get-togethers, but it has been quite the opposite. There is so much for everyone to do and enjoy.”

Debra added that Keith already uses the gym regularly and, when the family comes over, they love to swim, play ten-pin bowls, or enjoy a barbecue near the pool.

“It is so welcoming to all our family which just adds to our experience as full-time residents,” said Debra.

She said their first Christmas at GemLife Maroochy Quays was spent with all their family by the pool and was so successful, everyone wants to do it again this year.

“The best part about having such great facilities is the fact that residents have everything they need to keep fit and healthy or socialise with friends and family all year round and right on their doorstep.”

“What is more, everyone here really appreciates the facilities. They tidy up after themselves and everything is so well-maintained,” said Debra.

Keith and Debra also appreciate the security of living in an over-50s lifestyle resort, saying they love to be able to lock up and head off on travel adventures whenever possible.

At the end of this month, the couple will be taking a cruise to Papua New Guinea – a trip they had previously booked but had to cancel due to Covid, but this time Keith and Debra won’t be alone.

“While I was swimming in the pool the other day, I found out more than 20 other residents from GemLife Maroochy Quays were booked on the same cruise so it’s going to be a fun trip. We’ve called ourselves The Gemmies,” laughed Debra.
