PORT MACQUARIE’S WAR MEMORIAL IS A STRIKING LANDMARK IN THE CITY’S CBD, SET BACK FROM THE PORT MACQUARIE COASTAL WALK.

A three-metre-high Doric column carved from a single piece of stone, the monument features a globe on top into which all the continents have been etched.

A plaque on the memorial honours those who served in both world wars, as well as the Korean War, and the campaigns in Malaya during the 1950s.

The unveiling of the column and World War One plaque on 30 March, 1921 was especially significant to the people of Port Macquarie as it coincided with the city’s centenary.

This year, the Port Macquarie RSL sub-branch will be conducting a dawn service, a march, and main service on Anzac Day.

The dawn service takes place at 5:30am, while the march will form up in the vicinity of the old clock in Horton Street and set off at 10am.

The main service will take place at the memorial at 10:30am.
