Moreton moments - First look at GemLife Moreton Bay Summer House

THE SWEEPING FOLDING FORM AND ARCHITECTURAL LINES OF GEMLIFE MORETON BAY’S SUMMER HOUSE WILL SET THE STAGE FOR AN UNPARALLELED RESORT-STYLE RETREAT FOR FUTURE HOMEOWNERS.

Nestled in Stage One, the Summer House will be one of nine recreational precincts strategically located throughout the nearly 150-hectare site.

GemLife Manager of Interior Design Jennifer Kyle said the contemporary style of the building referenced the Japanese art of origami, incorporating a harmonious natural material palette of stone and timber.

“Beautifully landscaped to blend with the resort’s surroundings, the Summer House will open out to a stunning pool. The precinct will have a wonderful feeling of being connected to nature – an important design goal for all the buildings at GemLife Moreton Bay,” Jennifer said.

“This will be enhanced by a network of pedestrian paths leading to other areas of the resort, including an adjacent community garden.

“This unique approach, which prioritises environmentally sensitive design that preserves and enhances natural features of the site, will undoubtedly create an exciting new benchmark in modern over-50s and retirement living for the Moreton Bay region.”

Outdoor areas

A standout feature of the GemLife Moreton Bay Summer House will be a stunning 18 by 11.4-metre resort-style pool with floating semi-submerged sunlounges and – in a first for GemLife – a stylish circular in-pool spa.

“Towards the middle of the pool before the wading area steps down to the deep end, a ten-person spa will offer an incredible spot to lie back and relax while taking in the peaceful surrounding green spaces,” Jennifer said.

“Out of the water, origami-inspired poolside nooks, furnished with comfortable daybeds and seating, will give homeowners the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy Queensland’s lovely warm weather.

There will also be plenty of sun-smart shading over one end of the pool,” she said.

Next to the pool will be an expansive alfresco area with high-end barbecue facilities and a pizza oven for outdoor dining.

A small pathway from the pool area will lead to a spacious outdoor shower space, framed by foliage green screens for a private place to rinse off.

A large patio with a leafy privacy screen completes the outdoor spaces.

Indoor areas

The Summer House’s interior will welcome homeowners to a haven where comfort and sophistication converge to capture the essence of resort-style living in Queensland.

“An airy summer room with soaring ultra-high ceilings will be a wonderful space for private functions or a stop-off area for a cup of coffee on residents’ morning walks. The room’s stacker doors can be opened to the outdoor dining area to bring the outdoors in,” Jennifer said.

At the other end of the Summer House is a large activity room which will be furnished with oversized cane lounges, occasional chairs and other feature pieces inspired by the intrinsic beauty of natural materials.

“This room – which can be fully opened out onto the adjoining patio – could be used as a peaceful retreat or place to spend time with friends, or a space for meditation, Pilates or stretching,” she said.

“Drawing inspiration from the resort’s unique ecological heritage, the colour schemes will feature an earthy palette of harmonious neutrals punctuated with hints of colour borrowed from the diverse wildlife and native flora thriving at GemLife Moreton Bay,” she said.

“The site really is an ecological Eden, and the design team is excited for this local legacy to be reflected in the colourways, textures, finishes and overall look and feel of the interior spaces.”

Other facilities

Other facilities will include a superb lakeside Country Club which faces a nine-hectare lake with a walkway to a private island, a health club, lifestyle pavilions, sporting facilities, resort-style swimming pools, a network of trails for walking and cycling, and much more.
