Moreton Bay Stage One earthworks full steam ahead

EARTHWORKS ARE PROGRESSING AT PACE AT GEMLIFE MORETON BAY, GEMLIFE’S NEW $340 MILLION ECO-INSPIRED OVER-50S RESORT SET ON A SITE OF ALMOST 150 HECTARES AND BORDERING DECEPTION BAY CONSERVATION PARK.

Stage One earthworks are being carried out in two zones, with the first zone 90 percent complete and the second zone, which includes lake frontage and the site of the Country Club, 70 percent complete.

GemLife Director and CEO Adrian Puljich said the first zone of Stage One earthworks was expected to be ready for civil works in September, with the second zone ready later in the month or in early October.

“The site has been a hive of activity and it’s exciting to see works moving ahead quickly. The team cannot wait for civil works to begin very soon,” he said.

When completed, GemLife Moreton Bay will feature 553 homes – each with no rear neighbours. It will also feature idyllic green spaces including wildlife-rich wetlands, conservation area trails, recreational and greenway areas – all easily accessible on foot – seven private lakes, parklands and more.

“The development is GemLife’s biggest to date.

The inspiration for the resort’s master plan is drawn from the natural beauty of the site’s many unique features – all of which will be incorporated into the overarching design – as well as the surrounding area,” Adrian said.

“GemLife Moreton Bay will deliver a range of communal hubs and facilities, pedestrian linkways and amenities that provide a network of common spaces grounded in the natural environment,” he said.

“In addition, more than 60 percent of the site will be preserved and rehabilitated to protect native vegetation, including a koala habitat corridor.”

Buildings at the resort will be oriented to maximise solar energy generation and minimise impact on natural topography to retain as much of the existing vegetation and water body areas as possible.

“The architecture will be climatically responsive and there will be a variety of homes on offer, all meticulously designed to maintain a harmonious look and feel and using a natural material palette of stone, timber-look cladding, and attractive screening elements that frame the landscape,” Adrian added.

Facilities will be spread out across the site and will include a superb lakeside Country Club which faces a nine-hectare lake, architecturally designed recreational precincts with health club and lifestyle pavilion, resort-style swimming pools, a network of trails for walking and cycling, and much more.
