Dancing through life at GemLife Bribie Island

MANDY NOBLE HAS BEEN DANCING ALL HER LIFE WHILE HUSBAND, RETIRED BANKER MARK LINDSAY, LIKES NOTHING BETTER THAN JUMPING ON HIS MOTORCYCLE AND HEADING OFF-ROAD FOR A TRIP AROUND THE COUNTRY … ANY COUNTRY!

GemLife Bribie Island homeowners since 2019, the couple are each other’s greatest supporters and when Mark is on his impressive BMW adventure motorcycle, Mandy is right behind him riding pillion.

“We love off-road motorcycling and have ridden together around Morocco, Turkey, Peru, Bolivia, New Zealand’s South Island, Tasmania and through the Queensland outback,” said Mark.

Mandy, whose father was legendary Australian comedian Buster Nobel, has been involved in the entertainment industry from a very young age. Her sister, Trisha Noble (also known as Patsy Ann Noble) was also an Australian singer and actress who won international acclaim.

On leaving school, Mandy toured with iconic rocker of the time Johnny O’Keefe in an era when performers were in huge demand throughout the country’s club circuit.

“I remember my first show with JO’K was at the Jet Club in Perth at the age of 19, and in those days, we would work just about every night at a different venue. It is very different today,” said Mandy.

Dancing, however, has always been Mandy’s first love so it wasn’t long before she decided to join her mother, Helen De Paul in teaching tap, ballet and jazz ballet at their family-run De Paul School of Dance, where she remained until she closed it in 2008.

Since moving to GemLife Bribie Island, Mandy has been volunteering her time as a dance teacher at the local U3A where her dozens of students include some of her neighbours.

“Dancing is great. Both Mark and I like to keep in shape. He is a regular in the pool here, and I enjoy dancing because it is an excellent way to keep fit, especially tap dancing which is great for bone density due to the tapping action on the floor. It also keeps the body moving while keeping us mentally alert and in a great mood.”

Mark and Mandy are extremely popular among residents and have often been seen helping at the bar and at resort functions, as well as being enthusiastic supporters of local events.
