Celebrate Friendship Day

THE CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY ON 30 JULY IS EASY IN WOODEND WHERE THERE ARE MANY PLACES TO SOCIALISE AND HAVE FUN TIMES WITH FRIENDS.

Woodend is located within the Macedon Ranges region where nature-based experiences, superb cafes, restaurants, bars and friendly cellar doors are popular attractions. Here are a few you might like to try with friends.

PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK RESERVE

Hanging Rock Reserve includes picnic areas, a playground, ovals, tennis courts, a discovery centre, gift shop and cafe, and free barbecue facilities.

Nature walks, ranging from easy to medium grade, traverse Hanging Rock and the surrounding bushland. They provide close up views of the native flora and fauna. Nearly 100 indigenous plants can be found at Hanging Rock, which blossoms with colour in spring and summer while about 40 species of birds – including cockatoos and rosellas make their home at the reserve.

Fishing is permitted in the dam and Hanging Rock also plays host to world-class music concerts.

WOODEND COMMUNITY FARMERS MARKET

The Woodend Community Farmers Market is one of six markets held regularly across the Macedon Ranges region. Hosted by the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group, this accredited farmers’ market is an easy walk from Woodend V-Line Train Station.

The market, held monthly, showcases regional produce with over 80 regular and seasonal stallholders from within the Macedon Ranges and the wider region. It hosts stallholders that are carefully selected to complement each other and they sell essential groceries such as fruit, vegetables, meat, bread, coffee beans, wine, honey, cheese, cleaning products, skincare, and specialty goods, hot food and coffee. Live music is also performed.
