Bribie Island

Adventure of a lifetime in GemLife Explore

A SUNSET CRUISE ON A PADDLE STEAMER FOLLOWED BY BUSH TUCKER STEW AND DAMPER ON THE RIVERBANK WHILE BEING ENTERTAINED BY A BUSH POET AT LONGREACH WERE AMONG MANY HIGHLIGHTS OF GEMLIFE BRIBIE ISLAND HOMEOWNERS’ HEATHER AND LEN DAWBER’S LATEST ADVENTURE IN AN EXPLORE BY GEMLIFE MOTORHOME.

The couple, who made the booking the day after Explore by GemLife was launched last year, travelled in convoy with two other couples on an outback trip that took them 4780km on a 24-day roadtrip up to the Gulf of Carpentaria and back.

“It was amazing. We free camped in rest areas until we got to Undara Lava Tubes National Park west of Cairns where we stayed for three nights. The next stop was at Talaroo Hot Springs and then Cobbold Gorge where we camped behind the Forsayth Pub,” said Heather.

It had been a goal of the ardent travellers, who say there are not many roads in Australia on which they haven’t driven, to visit Undara Lava Tubes and Cobbold Gorge, and they were not disappointed.

“Experiencing such magical and beautiful environments is something you wouldn’t want to miss and at Cobbold Gorge in the heart of the Gulf Savannah region we also walked across Australia’s first full glass bridge and looked down over incredible geological landforms. It was truly spectacular.”

Len said that travelling in the GemLife motorhome was “luxury on wheels”, and its many features such as solar power, comfortable double bed, push-button options, and a spacious interior, ensured sweet satisfaction at every corner of their outback experience.

The three couples took every advantage to free camp with Heather admitting there was nothing better than sitting under a million stars at night around a campfire with a glass of wine in hand. “You can’t beat that,” she said.

Len and Heather are already planning their next trip in an Explore by GemLife motorhome and are contemplating a visit to the Victorian high country.
