AN ACAI (AH-SAH-EE) BREAKFAST BOWL IS A NUTRITIOUS AND DELICIOUS WAY TO START THE DAY.

A good breakfast is crucial for maintaining health and well-being. It can boost energy, improve concentration through the day, assist in weight management by getting the body functioning, regulate blood sugar levels, improve nutrient intake, and reduce chronic disease risk.

Acai berries are high in vitamins, fibre, and healthy fats, and are a ‘super food’, making them a great addition to your diet.

Acai berries, from palm trees native to South America, are packed with antioxidants which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

They are rich in vitamins and minerals which have been shown to improve cholesterol levels and help reduce the risk of heart disease. They are a good source of fibre, which helps promote healthy digestion and regularity, and acai berries are high in vitamin C, which supports a healthy immune system. You can’t go wrong with acai!

GemLife Chef Matt Conquest shares his healthy Acai Breakfast Bowl recipe. He recommends adding any flavours you enjoy to the bowl. From coconut yoghurt, Greek yoghurt, or strawberry yoghurt to crunchy granola, chia seeds, or other exotic fruits, the choice is yours!

Acai Breakfast Bowl

METHOD

  1. Add the frozen acai puree, mixed berries, banana, almond milk, and honey to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and add your desired toppings. Serve immediately as it is frozen and will start to melt.

You can make it as a smoothie for your morning pick-me-up if you like. Blend more of the topping fruit into the smoothie, and add a little more liquid to the blender. Yummm!

INGREDIENTS

2 packs of frozen acai puree (unsweetened) 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries

1 ripe banana

1/4 cup almond milk/rice milk/soy milk or milk 1 tbs honey

Toppings: sliced dragon fruit, kiwi, strawberries, granola.
