GEMLIFE HOMEOWNERS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERGO MENTOR TRAINING AS PART OF THE GROUP’S ONGOING PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION, LIFECHANGER.
LifeChanger is dedicated to empowering young people to lead fulfilling lives through programs that support their social, emotional, and resilience skills.
GemLife Director and CEO Adrian Puljich said residents were invited to become mentors in LifeChanger’s primary school (Years 5 and 6), and high school programs (to Year 12).
“We are excited to support LifeChanger’s work as part of our ongoing three-year partnership,” Adrian said.
“LifeChanger will be offering GemLife residents training opportunities to become mentors during the next few years, with the first workshop scheduled for the Gold Coast and Tweed on 28 May.
“Residents are welcome to join us even if they’re not available to attend the school programs, as the skills and tips provided at the training may help anyone who has young people in their lives.
“Mentoring is a way our residents – who have decades of wisdom and experience in life – can make real connections and hopefully positively influence our nation’s youth.”
LifeChanger Program Coordinator Kathryn Dennis said there were confronting statistics facing the younger generation, some of which could be preventable through early intervention programs.
“LifeChanger’s programs engage with youth, teachers, parents, and local mentors and ultimately help empower young people to overcome challenges and successfully navigate life,” Kathryn said.
“Connection is so important for people of all ages, and we’re sure GemLife residents will get so much out of the experience.
“After the training, those who wish to are invited to take part as mentors at schools, working in small groups with five to six young people, with the guidance and support of our LifeChanger facilitators.”
