How’s The Outlook? First look at GemLife Highfields new outdoor recreational precinct

GemLife Highfields’ stunning new $5m outdoor recreational precinct, the outlook, promises a host of superb new facilities ranging from a picture-perfect pool to a GemLife first, an indoor cricket pitch (howzat!!).

Plans for the 2800sqm precinct, currently being reviewed by Council, will complement the resort’s current facilities, adding a new dimension to the over-50s lifestyle on offer at GemLife Highfields.

GemLife Highfields Sales Manager Rachael Benham said The Outlook had been aptly named to convey the green views seen from the elevated parts of the site.

“For example, when people are lounging poolside, they will look out at a canopy of trees and lovely views of the native vegetation corridor around the creek,” Rachael said.

“Because of the elevation of the site, the team has been able to maximise wonderful aspects throughout the design, creating a unique oasis in which residents can relax, recharge, or get active – whatever mood strikes them,” she said. “The position of the site also means fresh country cross-breezes can be enjoyed year-round.”

She added that The Outlook, which is larger than GemLife’s typical summer house buildings, was unique to Highfields and combined two separate buildings for indoor facilities together with beautifully designed outdoor spaces.

Besides the serene 20-metre architecturally designed infinity-edge pool, other standout features in the outdoor spaces will include a croquet/yoga lawn, skirted by pergola-screened sunlounges, undercover barbecue with lounge/ entertainment area, and a large off-leash dog run for the resort’s canine residents to socialise.

The first of The Outlook buildings, a 300sqm multipurpose pavilion, boasts a spacious hall with stage that could be used for anything from dancing to special events, together with large arts and crafts studio, a bar and kitchen. The second building, measuring 520sqm, has been designed as a leisure and recreational centre and will be home to a sports lounge, gymnasium with Pilates area, virtual golf, and of course, the indoor cricket pitch, in addition to a formal lounge with fireplace and billiards/games room.

Manager of Interior Design Jennifer Kyle said The Outlook would complement the design of the resort’s award-winning country club, with a classically modern look and feel with a country lodge vibe.

“It will remain true to the idyllic rural charm of the Highfields setting, giving off an inviting sense of warmth and relaxation, with stylish highquality furnishings and fittings for a touch of sophistication,” she said.

“We want to provide homeowners with plenty of opportunities to connect with a range of wonderful social spaces indoors and out, and I look forward to sharing more details as this project comes together.”

Construction is forecast to commence in the fourth quarter of 2022.
