A CHANCE MEETING ON A FLIGHT FROM TASMANIA TO BRISBANE SAVED TWO FUTURE GEMLIFE BRIBIE ISLAND RESIDENTS FROM A RESTLESS NIGHT STRANDED AT THE AIRPORT.

David and Ann Collings were flying up to buy a new home at GemLife Bribie Island. They had booked accommodation for the following day but after making dozens of calls were unable to book a one-night stay on the evening of arrival, which just happened to coincide with the State of Origin clash.

As they would be arriving around midnight, they were also unable to pick up their hire car.

“We thought our only option would be to sit in the terminal and wait until the next morning,” said David.

That was until they met vivacious, ever-helpful Virgin flight attendant Bianca Dent, who at the last minute had been directed to work on the Launceston flight to Brisbane instead of her scheduled flight to Canberra.

After receiving a question in-flight from David as to whether the airport would be open 24 hours and then learning of the couple’s plight, Bianca was quick to offer them assistance. She was even more determined upon hearing they were travelling to Brisbane to buy a home at GemLife Bribie Island because her mother, Victoria, worked for the company.

“It really was fate that brought us all together, I’m convinced of it,” said Bianca, who ended up inviting the hapless couple to stay at her home overnight.

“I felt so sorry for them and couldn’t bear to think of them sitting up all night at the airport all alone. I’d hope that others would do that for my family if ever the need arose,” said Bianca.

As it turned out, David and Ann had met Bianca’s mother during a visit to GemLife Pacific Paradise but were unable to purchase a home due to the resort being sold out. They then looked at GemLife Bribie Island and found their forever home there.

“We love Bianca for what she did for us. It was so unexpected and so much appreciated. We’d love to return the favour one day and have given her a standing invitation to stay with us at GemLife Bribie Island. Fate – and Bianca – were sure kind to us in our hour of need and we will be forever grateful.”
