Paradise in Palmwoods – First look at stunning new summer house

Palmwoods Summer House

Featuring a stunning infinity-edge swimming pool perfectly placed to capture the morning sun, this superb outdoor recreational precinct will create an inviting space to lounge on the sundeck, enjoy a social barbecue with friends or family, or take an invigorating dip in the pool.

GemLife Manager of Interior Design Jennifer Kyle said the interior design team’s goal for the new summer house was to create the ultimate getaway space for relaxation and fun.

“The curves of the architecture give the building a sense of graceful harmony, a feature that provided a great starting point for the interior design team’s direction with the look and feel,” Jennifer said.

“We have selected gorgeous open-weave furniture, sculptural accent pieces, artwork, and soft furnishings that all work in harmony with this overarching direction,” she said.

“We’ve opted for a neutral colour palette, with natural organic tones together with fresh and olive greens, plus charcoals to bring everything together.”

Jennifer added that the inviting magnesium enriched swimming pool would showcase beautiful feature tiles inspired by traditional encaustic cement tiling.

“The tiles will add something special with each piece varying slightly in pattern and texture, lending rustic charm and beauty and a handmade appearance. The pool area will make residents feel like they’re on holiday at an upmarket boutique hotel.”

The GemLife Palmwoods Summer House will feature high-end, comfortable open-weave dining chairs, armchairs, ottomans, an oversized circular daybed, and lounge settings, all with neutral upholstery to convey a natural organic look.

“These contemporary-classic pieces have been chosen to bring a relaxed feel that is light and fresh, yet also cosy and welcoming,” Jennifer said.

“The furniture’s braided construction is made by hand with a highly durable fibre that has a wonderful organic appeal.”

Minimalist dark-toned coffee, café-style and occasional tables add a sculptural touch to indoor and outdoor spaces in keeping with the building’s curved architectural lines.

“These luxurious, solid pieces ‘ground’ the look and feel of the summer house, bringing everything together as a harmonious whole,” said Jennifer.

Original artwork

The poolhouse will also boast original artwork, especially commissioned for GemLife Palmwoods, by Queensland visual artist Shayle Flesser.

“Artwork can be one of the most transformative and impactful parts of interior design and Shayle has been briefed to create three large abstract paintings for the poolhouse,” said Jennifer.

Shayle’s works have been shown all over the world and she has also created commissioned pieces for major building projects, including the Dorsett hotel and apartment complex on the Gold Coast, as well as the GemLife Maroochy Quays Country Club.

“Typically, Shayle loves to work with form and texture, and usually colour, but for the summer house we’ve asked her to paint in neutral tones to complement the colour scheme of the poolhouse. The team cannot wait to see the finished pieces!”

Construction is well underway, and the summer house precinct is expected to open later this year. Stay tuned for updates in future issues of The Gem.
