HIGHLAND PARK COUPLE SUE AND ALLAN STEPHEN ARE DOWNSIZING TO MOVE INTO THE MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR GEMLIFE GOLD COAST OVER-50S LIFESTYLE RESORT AT PIMPAMA AND THEY WILL NOT BE ALONE.

Hooked on the resort from their first visit to the new GemLife Gold Coast Experience Centre, Sue and Allan quickly spread the word and will now be joined in Stage Two of the development by at least six more couples from their friendship circle, with three set to live in the same street.

“We loved everything about the upmarket resort. The individual house designs, quality build, beautiful fittings, as well as the spectacular country club, and just had to share it with our closest and dearest long-time friends. Like us, they were sold on it from day one,” said Sue.

The concept of living close to each other in retirement and spearheading the resort’s sense of community spirit was something the friends had contemplated for years, according to Sue.

“A few years ago, we were sitting around sipping wine and dreaming about buying a big block of land where we could all live, build a clubhouse as our central meeting place for socialising, and being there to look after each other as we grew older. We used to laugh about it but now, with GemLife’s help, it is going to be a reality,” said Sue.

The friends enjoy a long history with some going back more than 30 years to their school tuck-shop days. All couples met through a common interest in golf and have travelled the world together.

The close-knit group is already thinking about travel options available to them once they move into the GemLife’s flagship over-50s lifestyle resort at Pimpama.

“Like us, our friends love to travel – we share so many wonderful memories from these adventures and want to continue once we move into the resort. We have a motorhome but one of the great GemLife concepts is the ability to hire one of their Explore by GemLife Jayco Conquest RVs which means our friends can join us on road trips. We might even look at selling ours and just use GemLife’s.”

Sue said that moving to a new resort with all her friends as neighbours would be a dream come true.

“It is just another great journey that we can all share together,” she said.

How will they celebrate when they finally get the keys to their new homes?

“We’ll be opening a few bottles of champagne followed by whisky to celebrate. We also plan to be regulars at happy hour in the fabulous new country club. We can’t wait!”
