“It was a wonderful milestone for us,” said Glenda, “and we had planned to celebrate our 50th anniversary with this trip for a long time. It didn’t disappoint! What a beautiful part of the world.”
They travelled with another couple, Theo and Dawn, that they met at Hayman Island 50 years ago when both couples were on their honeymoon. Even though Theo and Dawn live in Melbourne, it was the start of a long-term friendship that remains strong today.
“We met as newly-weds and have remained great friends ever since,” said Neil. “We planned to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversaries with this trip together.”
Since moving into their new home at GemLife Bribie Island, Neil and Glenda have embraced the low-maintenance lifestyle. One of the things that attracted them to the resort was the ability to store their caravan on-site and go away knowing their home was secure.
“It’s definitely a great sense of safety and security here,” said Glenda. “Being in a gated community, knowing our neighbours so well, having resort managers on site – we know our home is safe when we go away.”
Neil agreed. “Being able to store the caravan right here, we can take off at a moment’s notice without worrying about maintenance or security at home. We don’t have to worry about the lawn being mowed or mail piling up, everything is taken care of.”
