If you’re looking for something a bit different to do this New Year’s Eve, we suggest you look no further than the Warwick New Year’s Eve Rodeo and Fireworks.
An annual Warwick event, the New Year’s Eve Rodeo and Fireworks is back again ready to welcome in 2017 – and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
Kicking off at the Warwick showgrounds, this event is packed full of everyone’s favourite rodeo activities. Rodeo staples including the junior, ladies’ and “open” steer rides, and of course everyone’s favourite – the “open” bullock riding. Other examples of regular rodeo fun worth looking forward to this year include the brumby catch and barrel races.
To keep things interesting, the event has also added additional events including the pony buck jump and Australian station buck jump championships.
It’s not all about the horses and cattle, however. Live music will be performed by Jimboomba singer Mik Oberle, while the obligatory New Year’s fireworks will be primed and ready to bring in the New Year with a blast – literally.
Gates to the Warwick showgrounds will open at midday on New Year’s Eve (Saturday 31 December 2016) and rodeo events will kick off at 4:00 pm.
Adult entry is available for $20 per person, while kids under 14 can attend for free. This makes it a great, family-friendly event if you’re looking for a memorable New Year’s activity to share with your grandkids.
For the more adventurous, you can also pay to camp over for the evening – with breakfast included in the camping price.
Getting There From Highfields
Warwick is located about 80 to 90 minutes away from Highfields via the New England Highway.
Because this is a late evening event, we suggest organising accommodation in Warwick so that you’re not driving home late at night.
Whatever you decide to do, we wish you and yours a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
