AT LAST YEAR’S INAUGURAL GEMLIFE GAMES, MAROOCHY QUAYS HOMEOWNER RUSSELL PLUMB THREW HIMSELF IN WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

In addition to being a home host, Russell, who is Maroochy Quays’ tennis coordinator, also competed as a player and is looking forward to this year’s event too.

“Let me tell you, it was a wonderful experience being a home host,” said Russell. “We had Tony Lennie from GemLife Woodend stay with us, and it was very enjoyable.

“I’d certainly encourage anyone who can to host someone from GemLife’s interstate resorts. It’s a great way to make new friends.”

The 2024 GemLife Games will be held over two days – 5 and 6 September – at GemLife Palmwoods and homeowners from Palmwoods, Maroochy Quays and Pacific Paradise are invited to host competitors and spectators from other resorts who will be needing a home for a night or two.

This year’s competition will feature players from Bribie Island, Gold Coast, Highfields, Maroochy Quays, Pacific Paradise, Palmwoods, Rainbow Beach, Tweed Waters, and Woodend. GemLife Moreton Bay homeowners and contract holders are welcome to attend as spectators or volunteers.

“The GemLife Games was a great event last year and we’re already getting coordinators together for this year’s competition,” said Russell. “I’m sure there will be a few people at our resort who’ll be putting their hands up for home hosting duties and it would be wonderful to see people at other resorts doing the same.”

If you’d like to take part in this year’s GemLife Games – as a competitor, spectator, volunteer or home host – it’s time to get your running shoes on because expressions of interest close on 21 June.
