The enduring excitement of a new grandchild

GemLife Bribie Island residents Adrian and Robyn Harvie welcomed their ninth grandchild, a baby girl named Alice, just seven weeks ago and couldn’t be more excited for the adventures to come.

Robyn said no matter how many grandchildren you have, the moment when you hear that another one is on the way never loses its magic.

“Each time I heard I was having another grandchild I was filled with great excitement, happiness, pride and prayers hoping for a healthy baby,” she said.

The adoring grandparents are always prepared for a visit from their grandchildren.

“Before COVID-19 we would regularly have the kids come and stay with us. We have looked after all of them at different times since they were born, we are very hands-on grandparents,” said Robyn.

“We kept a huge storage box filled with various toys that we brought with us when we moved to GemLife, so we are always ready for a visit.”

Adrian and Robyn can often be spotted around Bribie Island laughing and smiling with their grandchildren while visiting the local surf club or spoiling them with a trip to the shops.

“We love spending any precious time with them, whether it’s the park, the beach, family birthday gatherings – there are lots of those – or getting away with special things that only grandparents are allowed to do!”
