Stop & Smell the Roses at Highfields

Stop & Smell the Roses at Highfields

“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet!”

So Juliet declares in the Shakespearean classic.

But while you’re probably familiar with this famous quote, what you might not know is that you can enjoy one of Australia’s premier rose collections here in Highfields.

Brindabella Country Gardens

Brindabella Country Gardens is a family-owned, English style garden located on the New England Highway in Highfields.

The four-acre property is filled with a variety of beautiful roses that have been bred to flourish in all Australian climates.

Available as a venue for weddings and other special occasions, it’s open to the public Thursday through Sunday every week.

Enjoying the Roses

For any rose lover, Brindabella is the kind of destination your dreams are made of. Visitors are welcome to appreciate the roses in their lovely English garden setting, breathing in their beautiful perfume and appreciating them in their full glory.

Avid and hobby gardeners will also be pleased to learn that if you want to bring a little English beauty home to your own garden, you can. Many of the same species of rose that are grown on the property are available for purchase from the extensive Brindabella nursery.

More Than Roses

Roses may have been the flowers to put Brindabella on the map, but they’re not the only alluring plants you’ll find at these delightful gardens. Additional highlights include rhododendrons, magnolias, maples, conifers, tree peonies and more.

In fact, the National Plant Trust has recognised the significance of Brindabella Country Gardens by awarding national collection status to the property’s magnolia and maple collections – the first time this has happened for a Toowoomba garden.

Getting There From GemLife

Located on the New England Highway, Brindabella Country Gardens is practically on the doorstep of GemLife Highfields, which makes getting there relatively easy.

Bring a group of friends, or come alone for a quiet and enjoyable stroll through one of the places that explains Toowoomba’s claim to being “The Garden City”.
