Purely Palmwoods – First look at the Palmwoods Country Club

GemLife Palmwoods’ $12.5m future country club will blend minimalist architectural lines with natural, organic materials to create a distinct space that is perfectly Palmwoods.

With construction now underway, we take a sneak-peek at what is to come in the luxurious 4800 sqm country club.

A sense of place The exterior of the stunning three-level GemLife Palmwoods Country Club harmonises clean lines with the organic textures from natural white mica rock, which frames part of the building’s facade in addition to weatherboard cladding, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and lush landscaping.

The architectural brief was to craft a sustainable, modern yet timeless building that responded to the local climate and setting, maximised its location overlooking a waterway and adjacent boardwalk, and reflected the unique geography and culture of the Palmwoods area.

GemLife Palmwoods Sales Manager Liz Millroy said the overall look and feel would be reminiscent of a luxury mountain lodge but modernised and localised to capture the spirit of rural Palmwoods and the sub-tropical Sunshine Coast hinterland.

“I may be slightly biased, but I think this will be one of GemLife’s best country clubs to date. It will boast all the superb facilities for which our resorts are now famous, plus some unique features of its own,” said Liz.

“From the lower ground level facing the boardwalk to the ground and first floor, every level has an elevated view of the surrounding vegetation. With so many lush green views, it will almost be like being in the Daintree Rainforest, but without the crocodiles!” she laughed. “But seriously, residents will feel like they’re on holidays – they won’t want to leave.”

With its extensive suite of facilities for fitness, relaxation, and fun, the GemLife Palmwoods Country Club will house a well-equipped gym, indoor magnesium pool with spa, sauna, wine room, ten-pin bowling, luxury cinema, yoga studio, creative arts studio, barbecue bar, beautiful alfresco with sunken lounge areas and much more.

“The Palmwoods site is naturally picturesque and has lovely green and mountain views. The country club is perfectly designed to make the most of our idyllic setting, bringing the outdoors in with all social spaces having a sub-tropical aspect, and I cannot wait for building to begin and see it come together,” said Liz.

Style statement

The country club’s foyer entry will make a statement in style with high-end wallpaper featuring an idealised tropical environment with birdlife, flora and fauna from around the world.

Relaxed luxury

GemLife Manager of Interior Design Jennifer Kyle said that in keeping with the resort’s environment, the country club’s interiors would incorporate a colour palette of neutral earth tones and olive greens, punctuated by sophisticated contrast colours, in addition to interesting textures in wallpapers and soft furnishings.

“For example, there will be a feature wall at the country club’s entry with a gorgeous tropical-inspired wallpaper exquisitely rendered in the style of the great historical ‘naturalists’ including rich plant and birdlife. The team has also earmarked a fabulous grass-weave wallpaper in natural green tones for use. We haven’t decided where it will go yet, but it will add wonderful warmth and subtle visual interest to its final location. We are excited about incorporating it!” she said.

“Unique to Palmwoods – and one of the interior design team’s favourite spaces – is a cosy formal lounge which will be furnished and decorated to create a warm, comfy mountain lodge vibe. We envision it having large leather chesterfield sofas, stylish modern chandeliers, and pieces that invite homeowners to relax by the open fireplace.

“The lush tropical greenery and picture-perfect surroundings provided plenty of inspiration for the interiors and I look forward to revealing more in the months ahead as we finalise the details.”
