July 2020 Director’s Message

Adrian Puljich

This month we put the spotlight on friendship in celebration of International Day of Friendship on 30 July. There is no doubt that friendship is important to our health and dozens of studies have shown that good connections and social support improve health and even help us live longer. GemLife resorts are designed to provide plenty of opportunities for social interaction and friendship in order to create a close-knit community.

Last month, construction momentum continued strongly across all GemLife sites. On the Sunshine Coast at GemLife Maroochy Quays, it was full steam ahead with works on the resort’s lakeside country club, timber boardwalk and outdoor pool precinct, which will include a pool house and barbecue area. There was also good progress on the managers’ residence, expected to be completed this month. The team is also excited for the upcoming GemLife Maroochy Quays Display Homes Grand Opening on Saturday, 18 July.

At our premium resort, GemLife Pacific Paradise, we celebrated a terrific milestone last month, with our first residents moving into their new home. Congratulations Tony and Rita! Residential construction has been powering ahead and we look forward to more new home owners moving in over the coming months. The managers’ residence is also coming along beautifully and is due to be completed by October.

At GemLife Bribie Island, installation of stage two of the resort’s biological floating wetland treatment system is complete. The next step in our lake management plan is the installation of pumping stations for water recirculation, in addition to desilting works. With the further easing of restrictions in Queensland, we are also excited about the GemLife Bribie Island Stage Four Display Homes Grand Opening on Saturday, 25 July.

Civil works on GemLife Highfields stages three and four continue to power ahead, major stormwater diversion drainage work has been completed, and works continue on a maintenance access track in the Council’s reserve adjoining Stage Five to facilitate the clearing and help with the revegetation and rehabilitation program. Clearing has been completed in Stage Five and bulk earthworks have commenced.

This July, GemLife Woodend will celebrate the much-anticipated opening of the resort’s beautiful lakeside country club. We look forward to sharing photos of the new facilities and beautiful interiors in the next month. Work on the outdoor recreational precinct has begun, including the bocce and pickleball courts, as well as the barbecue pavilion.

Last month, residents enjoyed the final GemLife Eats meal delivery as we said goodbye to this popular initiative which was set up in April to aid in social distancing and reduce trips to the supermarket. For the GemLife Eats finale, we had a special surprise planned, with compliments from the chefs and the GemLife team.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our generous residents and staff who donated to the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in May. Together, we raised a fantastic total of $5373, the best response we’ve had to a fundraiser to date and an incredible effort, especially since the usual large gatherings couldn’t take place due to restrictions. What a terrific effort by all!

Sincerely,

Adrian Puljich
