WHEN IT COMES TO VOLUNTEERING AND HELPING WORTHWHILE CHARITIES, CAUSES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES, GEMLIFE RESIDENTS ARE KNOWN TO BE GENEROUS AND READY TO HELP.

“It is the volunteers that make things happen both for the many wonderful charities out there and within GemLife resorts such as ours,” said GemLife Rainbow Beach Home Owners’ Committee chairman Ron Bateman.

“Quite frankly, we couldn’t function without volunteers.”

His words were echoed by GemLife Maroochy Quays HOC Chairman Tim Curtin.

“The resort wouldn’t operate if not for the people who give their time so freely to help others have a better life. We have a lot of support here with around 40 volunteers alone servicing the bar plus organising social events, collecting bottles and cans to raise money, running our IT, driving buses and buggies, supporting events as well as organising interest groups plus their great work raising money for a plethora of charities and people in need.”

The amount of fundraising and support by homeowners throughout all GemLife resorts was also applauded by enthusiastic charity volunteers GemLife Highfields residents Kathryn and Noel McIntyre who said: “Giving up one day a week or a month is not a big deal, and it makes a huge difference in the lives of others less fortunate.”

Volunteering remains vital to the charity sector, with charities reporting that 3.4 million volunteers helped deliver services in 2020 alone, according to the most recent ABS data available.

“But more volunteers are always needed,” said Kathryn.
