Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary Support Group

The Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary, located at Bli Bli, is home to one of the largest stands of mangrove fern in Queensland as well as many species of birds, butterflies, crabs, reptiles and fish. Enjoy a 1 km walk along the boardwalk to the Maroochy River. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars to do a bit of bird spotting along the way.

The Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary Support Group meets every second month at The Sanctuary, Road, Bli Bli, and volunteers are always welcome.

Hinterland Bush Links

Established in 2011, Hinterland Bush Links was created to help local landholders to protect, restore and connect native vegetation to improve wildlife corridors and biodiversity.

There are plenty of ways to be involved from administration and grant writing to being part of the bush regeneration team and getting your hands dirty with tree planting, revegetation and weeding to improve koala habitat.

Friends of Maroochy Botanic Gardens

Located about 12 km from GemLife Maroochy Quays, the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens is an 82-hectare reserve cared for by the Friends of Maroochy Botanic Gardens with the support of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

You can support their great work by taking part in on-site volunteer activities including planting and pruning, plant propagation and various infrastructure projects or simply enjoy the walks in the natural bushland environment.
