HOSTED BY FASHION CONSULTANT AND STYLIST, TASHA HOMAN, GEMLIFE’S NEW LIFESTYLE SHOW LIVING PROOF’S EXPRESS YOURSELF SEGMENT WILL SHOW WOMEN OF ANY AGE OR STAGE OF LIFE HOW TO ELEVATE THEIR PERSONAL STYLE.
In the pilot episode of Living Proof Tasha takes GemLife Maroochy Quays homeowner Judy Fuller on a journey through the fashion and image consultancy process to update the former Melburnian’s wardrobe to adapt to her new relaxed lifestyle on the Sunshine Coast.
Hailing from New York, Tasha moved to the Sunshine Coast two years ago with her Australian husband, Carmody, an award-winning international hairdresser and stylist. Tasha has been involved in the fashion industry since her teens, having worked as an international model for the likes of Prada, French Connection, Levi’s, and Alexander McQueen, as a backstage Fashion Week presenter, fashion designer and stylist for international fashion magazines, and art director. She has also been featured in British Vogue for her personal style.
Today, the Homans put their extensive image and fashion experience to work at their own business where they offer a full suite of image consulting services, including fashion, hair, and beauty.
Tasha said that a fashion makeover was not just about looking great but feeling great by empowering women to have confidence in their own unique sense of style.
“Most people assume that a makeover is about radical change, but it’s not. It’s about getting a sense of a person’s individuality then pulling those ‘personal threads’ together to create a wardrobe and look that elevates their style but remains authentic,” she said.
Typically, a makeover will involve a consultation to find out more about a client’s likes and dislikes, goals, and lifestyle. From there Tasha creates a mood-board for clients to serve as a visual reference, followed by a wardrobe assessment, and personal shopping.
“Working with Judy was a lot of fun. The process was a bit different to how I would usually do it given we wanted to film a reveal at the end of the segment, but the result was great,” said Tasha.
“For Judy, it was more about bringing colour into her wardrobe. She is a fun, passionate, outgoing person – her personality is colourful. It was interesting to me that she didn’t have much colour in her wardrobe,” she said.
“I found pieces that are true to her personality, flattering, and elevate her style. Now she knows what to look for when she’s clothes shopping.”
Judy said the experience, which included makeup and hair for the reveal at the end of the segment, had given her more confidence in buying colour.
Her friends at GemLife were invited to come along to the filming of the big reveal and Judy was blown away by their reaction.
“They loved the new look, and a couple of them cried – they must’ve thought I looked really bad before,” she joked.
“The experience was fabulous, and Tasha was amazing! For anyone who’s thinking about consulting a stylist and trying something new, I say ‘take the plunge!’”
Tasha added that updating personal style was about allowing women to be the best version of themselves.
“No matter your stage of life, fashion can be fun and empowering, and every woman gets to be the celebrity of their own story!”
