If it is fresh air and farm days you are seeking, head to the beautiful Tweed hinterland. Immerse yourselves in the country lifestyle – feed the resident animals, take a swim in the dam, bring a picnic lunch, and relax under shady trees. Stay overnight or book a day pass for a great day out for the whole family.
Cycle along the beach
Hire bikes and explore the Tweed’s gorgeous coastline from Kingscliff and south to the villages of Casuarina and Cabarita. Smooth, flat pathways wind along the coast, with many opportunities to jump off and hit a beach path down to the waves for a refreshing dip before pedalling on again.
Catch a Crab Tours
Set off aboard a Tweed River cruise with a Catch a Crab Tour to take in stunning waterways and all manner of fishing fun. Haul in crabs, hand-feed friendly wild pelicans, pump for yabbies or try your hand at fishing. You will also visit a working oyster farm, where Sydney rock oysters are grown and shucked, and at the Lakeside Cafe, fresh crab and seafood dishes are chef-prepared to order.
Tropical Fruit World
Join a guided farm tour to discover and sample exotic fruits, meet farm animals, and take a boat cruise through a bushland valley. Get crafty with Intimate Farm Workshops where you can learn a unique spin on the retro craft of tie-dye using pigments from fruit and veggies to create natural dyes.
Located in Kingscliff, Stone Studio combines barista-made coffee and locally baked goods with a vibrant pottery studio running workshops for children and adults.
