Family-friendly activities on the Sunshine Coast

With International Day of Families coming up on Sunday, 15 May, it’s time to get your family together to celebrate the love and bond you have. The Sunny Coast is filled with exciting activities for an unforgettable day out.

Family beach day

The beaches on the Sunshine Coast are world-class and there is something for everyone! From calmer swimming spots like Kings Beach at Caloundra, Mooloolaba Beach, or Main Beach at Noosa, to exploring rock pools at Point Cartwright or Alexandra Headland, there are endless options. Pack some buckets and spades for the grandkids, a picnic basket, and a mat, fire up the barbie at one of the public barbecue spots and make a day of it.

Kondalilla Falls

Situated in Kondalilla National Park near the quaint town of Montville, Kondalilla Falls is one of the most spectacular and accessible waterfalls on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The walk down to the falls is family friendly with some rock stairs and a maintained path. You will get splendid views of the rainforest valley from the natural rock pools at the top, and you can swim in the rock pools at both the top and bottom of the falls.

Sunshine Castle at Bli Bli

This award-winning museum is also home to Absolut Toys, an independent toy store offering quality toys at affordable prices. The castle offers a plethora of highlights on a self-walk tour with medieval additions, complete with moat, turrets, towers, and a drawbridge. Wander around the courtyard and get lost in medieval times, try on some armour, and explore the doll museum. Children are sent on a treasure hunt and can choose a treat from the ‘King’s treasure’ and the fully licensed Castle Cafe offers a range of delectable treats for everyone to enjoy.
