Diving in for fun and fitness – Residents take to magnesium enriched pool

The many benefits of taking a dip in a magnesium enriched swimming pool are being enjoyed by residents at GemLife Maroochy Quays over 50s lifestyle resort.

The opening of the country club in September last year brought with it a range of fabulous new facilities such as a fully equipped gym, games and entertainment room, barbecue pavilion, luxury cinema, outdoor yoga lawn, creative arts studio, floodlit tennis court, indoor magnesium enriched pool and much more.

The serene indoor pool has been a big hit with residents, according to GemLife Maroochy Quays Sales Manager Joanne Michalowsky.

“Magnesium-enriched pools have so many great health benefits, and you couldn’t find a more picturesque setting than the one seen from the pool, through the large wall of glass and over the lake to the wide expanse of native coastal bushland that lies beyond,” she said.

Joanne said the physical benefits of swimming in a magnesium pool are another big drawcard.

“Just by swimming in the pool, people can benefit from the absorption of minerals into the skin,” she said.

This can lead to benefits such as lower blood pressure, the repair of nerve and muscle function through better absorption of calcium to the body, as well as boosting immunity and regulating sugar levels.

Studies have shown that choosing to include the healing power of mineral pools into a health treatment can greatly improve the chances of getting back to good health quicker.

Minerals also improve the skin’s elasticity and put moisture back into the skin, leaving the skin feeling soft and silky while magnesium is also responsible for improving the strength of hair follicles, stopping hair loss and breakage while also improving its natural sheen.

In addition, mineral pools can also assist in the healing of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and rosacea.

“Swimming can provide a great all over body workout that tones the muscles and builds strength too,” said Joanne.

“Exercising in water makes the body work harder and therefore half an hour in a pool is worth 45 minutes of the same exercise on land. Swimming is also an effective way to burn calories.

“This has got to be a big plus for those looking to get fitter and healthier,” said Joanne.
