Australia Day has long been a favourite public holiday.
A day off at the height of summer, it’s a holiday when you can easily enjoy the sun, sand and surf. But unlike Christmas, it’s not a holiday likely to bring the stress of wrangling and coordinating your entire family. Win-win.
Best of all, GemLife Bribie Island home owners will be delighted to learn that you can enjoy a day of fun and sun with the annual free Australia Day event on Bribie Island.
What to Expect
Bribie Island’s free Australia Day event offers a jam-packed day of food, live music, games, activities and more.
The day starts with a big breakfast, which kicks off from 7:30 am. Provided by Bribie Island Lions, Sandstone Point Lions and Cornetts Supa IGA, it’s a truly community brekky. Everyone is welcome, and you don’t have to book ahead.
The entire day is also filled with live music from a variety of local artists. An eclectic mix of genres means your music tastes will almost certainly be catered to, while the day’s line-up only reinforces the event’s community feel.
Games and activities range from beach cricket to beer pong, and everything in between. There are events for all ages, so not only will you be catered for, your kids and grandkids will be too. There’s even an ice cream eating competition. Yes, you read that right – ice cream eating competition.
No Australia Day celebration is complete without the obligatory fireworks, but there’s no need to worry, because Bribie Island won’t let you down. The fireworks are scheduled to begin around 7:30 pm and wrap up by 8:00 pm.
The annual “Australia Day on Bribie” will take place at Brennan and Apex Parks, an easy distance from GemLife Bribie Island, and nice and close to the beach.
Will you be there?
