AFTER 32 YEARS OF LOVE, LAUGHTER AND TRAVELING THE WORLD TOGETHER, FUTURE GEMLIFE TWEED WATERS RESIDENTS LEE WINTERBON AND BETH BROWN ARE COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS TO MAY WHEN THEY WILL TIE THE KNOT AND CELEBRATE THE START OF A WHOLE NEW LIFE AT THE RESORT.
“Just before we put our house on the market we are going to have a small wedding ceremony at home with just a few guests as a last hurrah before we move to GemLife,” said Lee.
“We really enjoy each other’s company, we love laughing together and doing things together, and we can’t wait to see what comes next,” said Beth.
The couple met in the 1980s while working for Telstra and formed an instant connection.
“We became friends in 1986 and were part of the same group of friends, but we didn’t get together until 1989,” said Beth.
“We were friends and confidants and it just grew from there. There’s not a specific moment that I can pinpoint that I knew I was in love, it just happened over time,” said Lee.
Keen explorers, Lee and Beth have embarked on many overseas adventures together and cannot wait to see what the future has in store.
“We love to travel but of course COVID has put that on hold for the time being,” said Beth.
“We’ve been to New Zealand, Canada, Vietnam and America. My favourite places would have to be the Niagara Falls and Disney World. We would love to do a river cruise in Europe when things settle down,” said Lee.
The couple credit their many wonderful trips abroad to their complementary personalities.
“Beth’s got a lot of patience with me because I’m a planner so when things go wrong I panic,” said Lee.
“I’m the calm one, so we make a good team and in the end it all works out” said Beth.
Northern New South Wales natives, Lee and Beth came across GemLife while driving past a billboard.
“We currently live on a large block of land that takes a lot of maintenance and we reached a point where we just didn’t want to do it anymore,” said Lee.
“We are really looking forward to moving to our new home at GemLife Tweed Waters. We’re very excited to make new friends and be part of a likeminded community and we’re ready for a lifestyle change.”
