A Christmas carol

Christmas at GemLife Pacific Paradise is set to be a jolly affair and there has been no end of preparation to make the inaugural annual Christmas carol event on 8 December an enormous success.

In a first for the resort, the carols will feature a group of male singers backed by six ukulele players who will present a full program of musical treats including festive Christmas carols and a selection of popular all-year-round songs to which the audience can sing along.

Ukulele band member Anita Rollinson said the ukulele players had been practising for almost four months in preparation for their yuletide performance.

“We are all residents who love music or like to sing but, like me, many of us didn’t know how to play a ukulele until our teacher Irene Paine showed us how. We have been practising every week for months now to make sure we will be OK on the night,” said Anita.

She said the male singers, including Irene’s husband Ross, all had beautiful voices and will be a joy to back at the carols.

“We’ll be performing some of my favourite carols including Six White Boomers, Silent Night, Jingle Bells, Away in a Manger, as well as popular music favourites such as Show Me the Way to Go Home, so there will be something for everyone.”

The event, to be held on the shaded area of the tennis court, will also include a spit roast and an afternoon full of Christmas cheer.
