Retirement living reinvented for active, like-minded communities.
Staying active while kicking back in retirement was a big part of the appeal when karate pros Jim and Lesley Griffin decided to downsize and move to the GemLife Bribie Island over 50s resort.
The property’s first-class recreational facilities and waterfront lifestyle were a major drawcard for the active couple, as were the low-maintenance homes and secure gated community.
Jim, a former karate world champion, and wife, Lesley, also a highly ranked karate expert, said GemLife Bribie Island offered lots of options to keep fit in a friendly, vibrant community.
“The resort has everything you could want. We’ve only been here two months but have tried the lawn bowls, ten pin bowling, billiards and golf simulator. We’ve also joined the rock ‘n’ roll dance classes,” he said.
The resort’s premium country club forms the heart of the community. Set on a seven-hectare lake with boardwalk and jetty, it boasts everything from a bowling alley, gym, gold-class style cinema, indoor heated pool and sauna to a flood-lit tennis court, covered bowling green and more.
GemLife Bribie Island’s low maintenance, modern homes were also a major factor in their decision to downsize and sell their large two-storey family home.
The resort’s architecturally designed houses are designed to the highest standards. Each home features high ceilings, indoor-outdoor living, premium appliances and chic, stylish finishes.
Ironically, despite their martial arts prowess, the Griffins cite security as another drawcard of their new-found lifestyle at GemLife Bribie Island.
“It sounds funny coming from a karate expert, but the security of the community is very appealing. We feel safe here and there’s always people around,” Jim said.
“It’s a super friendly, wonderful environment. Everything is done for you – it’s turn-key.”
